Julia recently completed her doctorate in Theatre Studies at UBC supported by SSHRC and Killam scholarships. Her dissertation explores narratives of aging and old age in contemporary theatre. Julia’s publications appear in CTR, Theatre Journal, TRiC, Age Culture Humanities, and RiDE: The Journal of Applied Theatre and Performance. Julia has just received two-year post-doctoral SSHRC funding to work with Dr. Kim Sawchuk at Concordia University and the ACT Project on research creating theatre with people with dementia with a focus on digital technologies. Last week Julia attended the Trent Aging 2019 (a joint conference of the North American Network in Aging Studies and the European Network in Aging Studies), where she won the NANAS Emerging Scholar Prize for best conference paper.
