Kristen Rogers

Kristen Rogers is a PhD candidate in Fine Arts (Theatre) at Texas Tech University. She is also the Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts for the East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood, an initiative funded by a 5-year, $25 million grant from the US Department of Education. Rogers holds an MFA in acting from the Actors Studio Drama School. She has worked in New York and Los Angeles as an actor and director, and has taught undergraduate courses in acting, voice for the actor, and theatre history. In 2012, she won the Helen DeVitt Jones Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award at TTU. Her research centers on early to mid 20th-century American theatre and film, primarily from a feminist viewpoint. Rogers is currently working on her dissertation, tentatively titled "Mediatizing the Madwoman: The Treatment of Female Mental Illness on Stage and Screen."
